My name is Laurie Jenkinson, and I have been a notary for more than 30 years. This fact, combined with my 20
years of banking experience, has made me familiar with most types of loan agreements and other documents that need to be notarized.
Notarization creates public record, and deters fraud. It also provides evidence in a court of law showing that
a particular individual has appeared and requested notarization. It signifies the seriousness of the document being signed,
and discourages forged signatures, criminal imposters, and back-dating of documents.
Not a day passes in the state of Oregon that someone does not need a notary to complete some type
of document for them.
Unfortunately, many of these people may be unable to get to a notary public office due to disabilities,
child-care and work responsibilities, hospitalization, transportation problems, or any number of other scheduling conflicts.

places other than the traditional bank, paralegal, and real estate office locations, and at times outside of normal business
hours.
